Jasper County Jail Roster Status
No official browser-based Jasper County Jail roster was located on the county website in the research file. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office page lists the jail phone, records contact, visitation, commissary, NCIC communication links, and staff names, but it does not publish a current-inmate web form, booking list, or recent-booking report. That absence matters. A reader should not be sent to a web roster that the county did not post.
For Jasper County inmate records, the first local source is still the sheriff-run jail. The jail is the county facility for new arrests, pretrial defendants, local sentenced inmates, parole-violator holds, state-jail-felony categories awaiting transfer or disposition, and contract inmates accepted by the county. The official sheriff page names Sheriff Chuck Havard and Jail Administrator Joe Pomponio, and it lists Jasper County Jail at 101 Burch Street in Jasper. Current custody questions should begin with the jail line at (409) 384-2411.
The county also has the Jasper County Sheriff TX mobile app. The Apple listing and Google Play listing say the app includes jail commissary and inmate information. The app screens were not inspected from a browser, so app inmate details should be treated as an official additional channel, not as proof of a public web roster.
Jasper County's current jail count also shows why a simple name search would not answer every custody question even if a browser roster existed. TCJS reported local inmates, contract inmates, pretrial felony categories, parole-violator categories, bench-warrant custody, and state-jail-felony categories in the same county jail report. Some people are waiting on first court action. Others are serving local time, held for another authority, or waiting on transfer. Ask which status applies when calling the jail.
Search Jasper County Jail Records
Because no public roster form was located, Jasper County jail records work best as a sequence of checks. Start with current custody, then move to records, the app, court filings, and outside custody systems as needed. A person arrested by a sheriff's deputy, Jasper police officer, constable, DPS trooper, or another local agency may route through the jail before the court case is filed.
- Open the sheriff's official page and confirm the latest jail and records contacts before relying on a third-party result.
- Call Jasper County Jail at (409) 384-2411 for current custody, release, transfer, and bond-status questions that jail staff can answer.
- Use the Jasper County Sheriff TX app as the official app channel when a phone call does not resolve the lookup.
- Contact sheriff records during business hours if a booking record, incident record, or public-information request is needed.
- Search TDCJ, BOP, ICE ODLS, or VINELink when the custody question is no longer limited to the county jail.
Records contact Kim Boutin is listed by the sheriff for secretarial and record-keeping duties. She is available 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at (409) 383-1154 or kim.boutin@co.jasper.tx.us. Mail or in-person records contact uses Jasper County Sheriff's Office, 101 Burch Street, Jasper, Texas 75951.
A clear request is more useful than a broad demand for every jail record. Give the full name, date of birth if known, arrest date or approximate date, arresting agency if known, and the specific question. Current custody, release, and transfer questions belong first with the jail. Copies of booking or incident records should route to sheriff records. Filed criminal charges, docket dates, and dispositions should route to the District Clerk, JP court, or municipal court once the case has opened.
Jasper County Roster Search Fields
The research found no county web roster search fields to inspect. That is different from many Texas counties where a public form accepts a last name, booking number, or date range. In Jasper County, the public field table is a negative finding: no official browser form was located. The table below preserves that finding so the lookup path stays accurate.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| [not available] | n/a | n/a | No official Jasper County public web roster form was located on the county site. |
The absence of a web field does not mean Jasper County inmate records are private. It means the access channel is phone, app, public-information request, or court office rather than a browser roster. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 still governs public information, subject to exceptions and redactions.
Jasper County Inmate Record Fields
Since Jasper County does not publish an inspected browser profile, inmate record fields should be described as request targets. A jail phone call or records request may confirm basic custody facts when they are releasable. Some information belongs to the sheriff's booking file. Other information moves to the District Clerk or prosecutor once formal charges are filed.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The person being held or searched, confirmed by jail staff or records rather than a public web profile. |
| Booking number | A jail identifier if one is released through the jail or records office. |
| Booking date/time | The intake date or time when available through jail or records channels. |
| Mugshot | No official county web mugshot field was inspected; request availability through sheriff records. |
| Charges | Initial booking allegations or later filed court charges, which may differ. |
| Bond | Release security or hold status, best confirmed with the jail and then the court. |
| Housing location | A custody or housing detail that may be withheld for jail safety. |
| Release/status | Current custody, release, transfer, or notification status through jail, app, records, or VINELink. |
Local distinction: Jasper County booking records can start at the sheriff's office, while filed criminal case records move through the District Clerk, JP court, municipal court, or prosecutor depending on charge level.
Jasper County Custody Lookup Paths
Jasper County has two confirmed detention facilities, but they do not use the same inmate lookup method. Jasper County Jail is the local jail for arrest, pretrial, local sentenced, hold, and transfer situations. Glen Ray Goodman Unit is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison/intermediate sanction facility in Jasper County. It is searched through the TDCJ inmate locator, not through the sheriff's jail line.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Use When |
|---|---|---|
| County jail custody | Jasper County Jail, sheriff app, sheriff records | New arrest, pretrial hold, local sentence, warrant booking, transfer question. |
| Sentenced Texas prison custody | TDCJ Inmate Search | Person has been sentenced, transferred, or assigned to Goodman Unit or another TDCJ unit. |
| Federal custody | Federal BOP inmate locator | Sentenced federal custody from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System | Immigration custody or removal-related detention. |
| Release alerts | VINELink | Custody notification is more important than a one-time lookup. |
The TDCJ locator has searchable fields for last name, first name, TDCJ number, SID number, gender, and race. TDCJ profiles can show current facility, sentence, offense history, projected release date, parole eligibility, and visitation eligibility. TDCJ says its online information is updated on working days and is at least 24 hours old.
Federal and immigration checks are separate. The BOP locator covers sentenced federal inmates from 1982 to the present and has number and name search modes. ICE ODLS normally supports A-number and biographical searches for immigration detainees. Neither system is a Jasper County Jail roster. They are fallback systems for people who may have moved out of local custody or who were never held under county authority.
Jasper County Jail Facilities
Jasper County inmate records split between a local sheriff facility and a state prison facility. Do not treat Goodman Unit as a county jail annex. It is physically in Jasper County, but it belongs to TDCJ and uses state prison rules for lookup, visits, and money.
Jasper County Jail
101 Burch Street
Jasper, TX 75951
(409) 384-2411
County jail; 147 beds reported by TCJS; weekend in-person visitation.
Glen Ray Goodman Unit
349 Private Road 8430
Jasper, TX 75951
(409) 383-0012
TDCJ prison/intermediate sanction facility; 204 capacity listed by TDCJ.
The current TCJS file inspected June 30, 2026 listed Jasper County Jail with 127 total inmates, 95 local inmates, 32 contract inmates, and 86.4 percent of capacity. Those figures describe the sheriff's jail, not Goodman Unit's live population.
Jasper County Booking Process
A Jasper County arrest usually moves through arrest, jail intake, property inventory, identification checks, booking photo and fingerprints, medical or mental-health screening, classification, and housing. The county site does not publish a detailed booking counter schedule or a promise for how fast a new booking appears in an app or record system. That makes the direct jail phone more important for recent arrests.
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 15.17 requires an arrested person to be taken before a magistrate without unnecessary delay, generally no later than 48 hours after arrest. The magistrate gives warnings, explains rights, and addresses bond when bond is allowed. A detainer, parole hold, bench warrant, no-bond order, or out-of-county hold may keep a person in custody even when one bond is posted.
- Booking
- The jail intake event after arrest.
- Classification
- A jail assessment used to assign housing and security level.
- Detainer
- A request from another agency to hold or notify before release.
- PR bond
- Release on a written promise to appear, sometimes with conditions.
Jasper County Jail Visits
Jasper County Jail visitation is controlled by the sheriff's visiting policy revised January 18, 2023. Regular in-person visits occur Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitors must call during the week to schedule. Each inmate is allowed 20 minutes during each visitation day, and the policy provides a minimum opportunity for two 20-minute visits per week.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Length | Rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular non-contact visit | Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. | 20 minutes each visitation day | Call during the week; visitor must be on approved card and show ID. |
| Video visit | 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. daily | Vendor/account dependent | Kiosks in general-population cells; monitored except attorney visits. |
| Attorney/client visit | 7:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. | Not published | Exceptions may apply during count, feeding, emergencies, or visitation. |
| Special or emergency visit | Case-by-case | Not published | Requires approval from jail leadership or the sheriff. |
Visitors may not bring purses, cell phones, or packages into the visitation area. Dress rules bar mini-skirts, shorts, and revealing shirts. Former Jasper County inmates have a 90-day visitor restriction after release unless written permission is granted by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator.
Jasper County Commissary Access
The sheriff page links to JailATM deposits for jail commissary. The same sheriff page links to NCIC for inmate phone, video, and correspondence services, and the visitation policy states that phone and video accounts may be funded through the outside contractor. During visitation, money left for an inmate must be a money order or cashier's check payable to "Inmate Trust Fund- (Inmates Name)." Cash is not accepted under the visitation policy.
The sheriff's official JailATM link is shown below. It is useful for commissary deposits, but it is not a substitute for first confirming that the person is still in Jasper County Jail custody.

Use the deposit portal only after checking the jail, app, or sheriff records, especially when a recent arrest may have led to release or transfer.
Note: Confirm current custody with Jasper County Jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or opening a phone/video account.
